3/21/2023 0 Comments Slay the spire review“The Silent” fits right into the rogue archetype with her usage of poisons and dagger strikes. He’s easily the most straight-forward cl ass of the three. The warrior class here is called “The Ironclad.”Īs you would expect from a warrior class, the Ironclad’s abilities are all based around physical attacks and defensive shield techniques. The three classes currently available resemble the classic holy-trinity of fantasy games: warrior, rogue, and mage. To get a better idea of how it plays, check out the trailer below. In addition to powering up through earning new cards, players can find chests and random events that can earn them both ability boosting relics and potions. Each class is able to pick up new abilities/cards after each battle. Combat is turn-based and makes use of abilities that are essentially cards. The game starts by having players pick between one of three different classes and then throws them into a massive 3 tier dungeon where they’ll have to battle their way to the top. What did I find? An amazingly addicting, super fun game, that you can pick up and play regardless of your time constraints. The ridiculously good scores really made me want to check it out. It’s currently rated 10/10 with nearly 16,000 reviews that averaged out, put it at an “Overwhelmingly Positive” status on Steam. Slay the Spire is a roguelike, deckbuilding game that is on Early Access on Steam. This is why it (in my opinion) deservers a rating around 8 to 9.Not enough time to get in a full match of Fortnite/Overwatch/League of Legends but still need something to scratch that gaming itch? “Slay the Spire” might just be what you’ve been looking for. It is still one of the best turn based strategic card games that I ve played in a long time. I would suggest to buy it at around 15-20 because the game itself is fun but limited and gets repetitive at a certain point. Testing each character, unlocking new cards and fiddling around with card sets is really entertaining. The artstyle is cartoon-ish and well made. The game is not too fancy but the gameplay is very solid and highly addicting. After all Slay the Spire was already highly successful on PC and I m glad that I m finally able to play it now on my PS4 Pro. There are different game modes, such as daily challenges or endless stages. Some are good in def, some do huge attacks but are fragile, some of them have minions that can be re-summoned, some swap between agressive and defensive rounds etc. The monsters have individual attack sets. Will you deal dmg and receive dmg? Or will you play defensive, draw out the battle and get possibly struck by a buffed enemy later on. Between bosses you can only heal by resting on rare occasions or by using scarce potions which make decisions more and more difficult. If you succeed you can choose a reward, will be healed and proceed onto the next stage. At the end of each area you encounter and fight a boss. Some cards can be chained for powerful combos, some are one time usage and will be discarded until the next fight. Each battle swaps between you and the enemy choosing cards as long as you have enough points to use them. Cards can also be upgraded to enhance the individual strengths even more. Special elite fights grant relics that are random and give you specific benefits such as healing, armor or more card power at the beginning of your turn. The more you play the more you will learn about strats you can use with your cards and try out new ones. In the course of your play you gain more cards that assist in your fighting, but you have to be careful not to get and accept every card or your deck will be less powerful and full of trash. Each area consists of multiple paths you can follow that have individual events attached such as: enemy encounters, resting places, random encounters etc. Slay the spire is a refreshing turn based card game where you play as one of three different starting characters and "fight" your way through Slay the spire is a refreshing turn based card game where you play as one of three different starting characters and "fight" your way through multiple areas.
